**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
**POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY**:
Under the supervision of the Environmental Supervisor and Operations Manager, the Cleaner cleans as directed to ensure the facility is well maintained. The ARC Cleaner is responsible for a high standard of cleanliness to ensure the overall appearance of Victoria ARC is presentable to our residents, employees, and other stakeholders. Cleaners clean and maintain all areas of the ARC in the best way possible in order to sustain a positive environment necessary to the client's growth and comfort.

**BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Performs thorough cleaning and sanitization of assigned areas within the facility, including but not limited to resident rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and treatment spaces.
- Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors, carpets, and furniture to ensure a clean and organized atmosphere.
- Empty and sanitize waste and recycling containers regularly.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of common spaces, ensuring they are presentable and welcoming to residents, staff, and visitors.
- Cleans and sanitizes all shower facilities and bathrooms within the facility. This includes regular cleaning and disinfection of shower stalls, tiles, fixtures, toilettes, and bathroom surfaces.
- Maintains a high standard of hygiene in all areas, paying special attention to preventing the spread of germs and maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms, ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Handles and disposes of hazardous materials according to established protocols.
- Monitors and restocks cleaning supplies as needed, reporting inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor.
- Collaborates with other staff members to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to facility maintenance.
- Responds promptly to special cleaning requests and emergency situations, as required.
- Follows safety protocols and use protective equipment to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
- Adheres to established infection control procedures and guidelines.
- Assists in setting up and arranging rooms for meetings, events, and activities.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards residents, staff, and visitors, contributing to a supportive and caring environment.
- Cleans Victoria ARC facilities and capital assets as directed.
- Assists maintenance when needed.
- Assists with laundry duties as required.
- Cleans and sanitize all equipment used during daily cleaning operations.
- May be assigned other related duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education/Certifications**:

- Grade Twelve (12) or equivalent required.
- Minimum six (6) months of related in commercial cleaning or janitorial services.
- Occupational First Aid level 1 or equivalent required.
- Infectious Disease Control training required.
- WHMIS Certificate required.
- Negative result T.B. skin test required.
- Must provide own safety work boots.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of six (6) months experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial services.
- Experience in maintaining a clean and hygienic environment, especially within healthcare or residential facilities, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with various cleaning techniques, equipment, and cleaning agents.

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Must be able to follow instructions, both verbal and written, work co-operatively with others, and complete to a satisfactory level all assigned tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high cleaning standards.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
