**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for an Editorial Assistant. This position collaborates with the Editorial/Production Supervisor in the preparation of approximately 12 to 14 new books annually. The Editorial Assistant is pivotal in ensuring that the Press achieves its book production targets and adheres to editorial/production schedules efficiently. Additionally, they play a key role in facilitating the distribution and shipping processes of U of M Press books, maintaining scholarly databases, and meticulously managing data entry for sales and inventory databases.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institution required.
- Three years of experience in publishing or a related area required.
- A knowledge of standard book editing and production techniques is required.
- Demonstrated experience in writing and preparing print materials for publication is required.
- Knowledge of the book publishing industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with book publishing would be an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be able to work as a key part of a team that considers all aspects of publishing in order to 'reach the Press's editorial and financial goals.
- Proficiency in the use of a computer, preferably Macintosh, required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
