Emergency Response Advisor

The Trans Mountain Expansion Project will provide increased capacity to support Canadian crude oil production growth and ensure access to global energy markets. The largest project in the pipeline’s history, it involves installing approximately 980 kilometres of new pipeline, as well as new and modified facilities.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for implementation and enhancement of the EMP equipment including the inspection, testing and maintenance of emergency mobile equipment and fire systems. This includes the research, training and procurement of updated equipment for all hazards while coordinating ERT activities and training across operations to ensure a consistent approach in all operational areas
- Accountable for implementation and continual improvement of the exercise and training program ensuring regulatory compliance and compliance with the requirements of the management system including appropriate documentation
- Implement and ensure continual improvement of the continuing education and liaison program ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, commitments and management system requirements for documentation and record keeping
- Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and regularly communicate with these individuals to plan and schedule training, exercises and CAER sessions in the areas where TM operates
**Qualifications and Professional Experience**:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Emergency Management, Engineering Sciences, Safety, Humanities or Social Sciences or equivalent
- 6+ years emergency management experience preferably in the petroleum industry with increasing responsibilities and project complexity
- H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS, TDG, ICS 100-300, HAZWOPER
- Valid Driver’s License
- Required to travel throughout Lower Mainland of BC and Washington state, must be legally able to travel across the border into the United States
- Confidence and ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, external customers, and suppliers
- Ability to write clearly and concisely for different types of audiences and deliver presentations
- Flexible and able to work effectively within a team and maintain a professional and respectful manner with co-workers and external parties
- Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks in high pressure and time restricted situations
- Ability to review technical documents and summarize for other departments and/or Sr. Management

In Alberta, the existing pipeline system spans the traditional territories of Treaty 6, 7 and 8, and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Zone 4).
In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.
Trans Mountain also operates through 15 First Nation Reserves located within the region spanning the BC interior through Fraser Valley.
