**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensures the appropriate procedures and protocols ready for deployment in the event of an emergency. This extends to readiness as tested by emergency exercises, including maintenance (and records of maintenance) as well as facilitating operation of tank fire suppression equipment.
- In the event of an emergency, the technician is responsible for onsite deployment of response protocols. This includes being responsible for leading and coordinating field activities as part of the local incident management team, from Hope to Burnaby. Response must be within the first 4 hours of confirmation of Fire and 6 hours for spill emergency and within the first 12 hours for all other Trans Mountain locations.
- Coordinate with the Manager of Emergency Management, Tank Fire and Emergency Response exercises. During the exercise they would lead and coordinate field activities as part of the local incident management team.
- Multi-skill and multi-task within Terminal Operations Including assisting technical groups as needed for MEI, PLM and operations. Terminal specific facilities include assisting in the tie up and connections of tankers and/or barges.
- Management and inspection of facility operating equipment as part of the facility integrity management program. This includes weekly, monthly, and annual fire systems checks and ensuring the readiness of all emergency response resources. Safety, emergency response.

**Qualifications and Professional Experience**
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 6-9 years of experience.
- NFPA 1081 Industrial Firefighter Certification/1001 NFPA firefighter certification.
- NFPA 472 Chapter 16 Flammable Liquids Bulk Storage Specialty Certification TEEX.
- Occupational First Aid Certificate - Level 3.
- Confined Space Rescue Technician.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- HAZWOPER.
- ICS 300.
- Pleasure craft operators’ card.

In Alberta, the existing pipeline system spans the traditional territories of Treaty 6, 7 and 8, and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Zone 4).

In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.
