**Laboratory Technician**

**Summary**

Reporting to the **Group Leader**, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for fresh sample preparation and pre-processing, providing support in experiment preparation (solutions, consumables, labels) and solution preparation. The Laboratory Technician will also participate in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment, the reception of reagents and materials along with inventory.

**Responsibilities**

**More specifically, you will participate in the following**:

- Perform sample preparation such as cell isolation from blood samples, cryopreservation, thawing, and counting;
- Provide general support in experiment preparation such as plastic identification and label preparation;
- Prepare solutions and reagent aliquots;
- Perform equipment maintenance, calibration, and cleaning;
- Replenish stock materials and perform inventory;
- Perform file archiving.

**Education**
- DEC in Laboratory Technology, preferably with a biotechnology specialization.

**Main Requirements**
- 1 year experience in a laboratory, an asset;
- Experience working in a biological safety cabinet under sterile conditions;
- Experience with PBMC (isolation by Ficoll or CPT, cryopreservation, thawing, counting with hemocytometer), an asset;
- Experience in a GLP/GCLP environment, an asset;
- Organized and rigorous in the conduct of their work;
- Good record keeping skills and attention to detail;
- Dynamic and motivated.

**Working Conditions**
- 100% onsite;
- Rotating schedule of evening and weekend shifts: Monday to Friday 1:00pm - 9:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 5:00pm. ** Note that a shift premium is applied**:

- Must accept to perform activities in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 or 2 laboratory where biological samples may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous viruses such as HIV, HCV, or CMV.
