**Job Title**:Support Worker

**Position Summary**: The Support Worker plays a crucial role in facilitating the integration of ICOF employers into various community activities and employment opportunities. This position requires a strong commitment to upholding the values of In the Company of Friends (ICOF), fostering positive relationships, and promoting person-centred programming. The Support Worker serves as a liaison between the ICOF employer, their support network, and the broader community, ensuring that they receive adequate support and opportunities for personal growth and development.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and maintain relationships with ICOF employer, their support network, and community members based on dignity, respect, honesty, and trust.
- Ensure that the philosophy of ICOF is consistently demonstrated and discussed within the team and community settings.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to person-centred programming, tailoring activities, and opportunities to the ICOF employer's interests and preferences.
- Organise and maintain information relevant to the ICOF employer's daily activities, appointments, and goals, ensuring accessibility to the team and support network.
- Assist team members in taking ownership of their roles by suggesting creative solutions and providing necessary support.
- Accountable for all team actions within programming and support for the ICOF employer while holding team members accountable for their actions and decisions.
- Provide unwavering support to the ICOF employer and the team in all circumstances, offering mediation and additional support when conflicts arise.
- Ensure that the ICOF employer's Person-Centered Plan (PATH) remains a guiding framework for daily and long-term planning.
- Foster a sense of value and validation within the ICOF employer and the team through active listening, praise, and inclusion in decision-making processes.
- Assist in team member evaluations, collaborating with the HR Support Network Committee.
- Regularly meet and consult with the support network to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.
- Ensure thorough orientation and training for team members to meet the ICOF employer's satisfaction and the standards of the support network.
- Support ongoing training initiatives by facilitating shift coverage and participating as needed.
- Serve as a positive role model and community connector while accompanying the ICOF employer in the community, facilitating communication and engagement.
- Coordinate the ICOF employer appointments and document them accordingly.
- Maintain thorough communication through a communication journal, addressing concerns and facilitating team communication.
- Ensure necessary forms and documents are available, including daily task sheets and tracking forms.
- Manage household supplies and coordinate seasonal cleaning tasks with the ICOF employer.
- Act as the primary contact between the ICOF employer and event organizers or community representatives.
- Adapt to and encourage the ICOF employer to increase skill levels through innovative approaches and activities.

**Qualifications**:

- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for transportation.
- First Aid certification is preferred; willingness to obtain it within six months of employment.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Outgoing, friendly, and family-oriented personality.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and environments.
- No specific educational requirements, but completion of relevant training or coursework from post-secondary education in the disability field at Red River College would be beneficial.
- Must be willing to work four days weekly, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, with additional hours possible.
- Age: Must be over 18 years.
