We are currently looking for a Kitchen staff to join our team. The principal responsibilities of the kitchen staff include independently menu planning for morning and afternoon snacks as our lunches are catered by an outside company, preparation and delivery of snacks and lunches, purchasing food items weekly from the grocery store (having access to a car 1 day per week to do so), maintaining premises in sanitary conditions and contributing to the overall effectiveness to the team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Menu planning for morning and afternoon snacks to meet the Canada Food Guide standards
- update menu every 4 months
- Menu planning to provide age-appropriate food choices and appropriate quantities and to include individual substitutions to support children's dietary/allergy restrictions
- Work with a given budget to purchase food to meet the budget requirements
- Create a weekly shopping list based on inventory and complete the shopping 1 day a week
- having access to a car 1 day per week is a must
- Maintaining a clean working environment that supports Public Health Guidelines
- Recording food temperatures daily
- Operate kitchen equipment and appliances
- Baking cookies, muffins etc
**Skills**:
- Experience in meal preparation and cooking
- Knowledge of food handling and safety procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
**Requirements**:
- Safe Food Handlers Certification
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- TB, MMR, and Tetanus immunizations
- Access to a car 1 day per week
