Handy Person

Church of the Advent in Colwood is looking for a part-time Handy Person to join our team.

As our Handy Person (officially known as our Building and Grounds Maintenance position) you will be responsible for maintaining the church grounds and building on a day-to-day basis. This position contributes to a positive working atmosphere in a team-based setting, supporting the parish through their duties.

Some key duties are:

- Completing minor repairs and ongoing building upkeep as required
- Facilitating the setup and take down the hall and other areas for church activities and outside user groups in consultation with the team
- Changing the roadside sign as directed by the church office
- Ensuring the lawn is mowed and hedges are trimmed, including working with church volunteers in this area
- Monitoring the parking lot, removes debris, attends to ice in winter and other hazards including facilitating the snow removal contractor, when necessary
- Annual inspections of various systems used in the church (e.g. watering system, fire alarm system, septic tank, etc.)
- Manage external contractors for work outside the scope of this position

What Will You Bring:

- Familiarity with basic gardening and handyperson practice
- Experience working in maintenance or other similar role preferred
- Experience working with heat pumps considered an asset
- Ability to work well with little to no supervision and take initiative

Things to consider:
During the course of the work you will be expected to work both inside and outside, lift items up to 50 lbs, and complete repetitive tasks that may involve standing, sitting and twisting.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 19 per week
