Our dynamic Geomatics team is looking for a Party Chief, Land Surveying in Ottawa, ON.** **Joining the GeoVerra team means you’ll step into a career with wide-open opportunities. You will have a strong handle on equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the outdoors and the timeline of the task at hand.

This is a permanent full-time position with 20-50 hours per week.

**What you will do**:

- Manage and perform field survey work.
- Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, to review and manage project budgets, timeline requirements, priorities and survey methodology.
- Act as a company representative, liaising directly with client field representatives and land owners.
- Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists and digital data in required formats for Project Managers, Land Surveyors and Drafting personnel.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Survey Assistants working with you.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, more efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
- Actively participate in and proactively support the advancement of the GeoVerra safety program.
- Some office technical survey work may be required in this position; and
- Other duties as assigned.

**What you will bring**:

- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary program (Diploma or Degree) related to surveying and geomatics.
- 5+ years’ experience in land surveying as a Party Chief.
- Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic);
- Knowledge and experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating would be considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
- Excellent English Language communication skills - verbal and written; ability to produce accurate and legible field notes.
- The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
- An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
- Experience with the use of ATVs/UTVs, snowmobiles and chainsaws would be considered an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract.
- Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid, H2S and CSTS safety training, is an asset.
- Security clearance for working in Ottawa from the Government of Canada is an asset.
- All employment offers for Safety Sensitive positions are conditional upon the successful completion of a Negative Drug Screen and Passing Alcohol Screen.

**Job conditions**
- Out of town work, possible shift work, on the road work and frequent travel required.
- Ability to carry, lift and push 50lbs+ on a regular basis.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Overtime hours possible.
- Early morning, morning, day, evening, and weekend shifts are all possible.
