**About the Role**:
**You will contribute by**:
The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions, but does not outline all the duties and responsibilities that may be assigned to this position:

- Write news content for a variety of live and server-based news programs.
- Produce local news content from video gathered in the field along with affiliate, national and international content.
- Guide the editorial direction of news content including breaking news.
- Assign and vet reporters as required.
- Display creativity in the use of production graphics and other visual elements.
- Communicate breaking news and coordinate with local radio newsroom, resources desk, online, Edmonton and Lethbridge newsrooms.
- Provide guidance and feedback to other news and technical staff involved in the production of newscasts.
- Generate innovative ideas while leading a dynamic team.
- Write, post, and assign online content for breaking news in Calgary and coordinate with the broader online team to ensure stories are posted and socialized quickly.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Skills and experience you will bring**:

- Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a news producer and demonstrated understanding of innovative production techniques and technology.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
