**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, and working in close collaboration with the Digital Content and Communications Specialist, and the outreach and engagement team, Faculty of Engineering and Design, the Communications Assistant will support the marketing and communications for outreach and engagement events and initiatives within the Faculty. The Communications Assistant will be required to attend Faculty and/or University events, both on and off campus, online and in-person. Sometimes these events occur in the evenings or weekends.
It is essential that all communications and marketing materials be produced with the highest standards and convey consistent messaging, accuracy of information, quality of presentation, and a common visual identity as they reflect the University and Faculty’s reputation to its internal and external stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- Proficient in the use of social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Experience in executing communications plans.
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective working in a team and independently.
- Strong client service ethic and high expectation for quality.
- Effective writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- English language fluency.
- Experience in editing photography and videography.
- Experience in digital layout and/or graphic design.
- Commitment to innovation and adoption of new technologies.
- Knowledge of the University’s culture and institutional goals and objectives (an asset).

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Minimum completion of a three (3) year post-secondary program in marketing, communications, public relations or related discipline.
- Three years of related work experience in marketing and communications and/or public relations preferably in an academic setting.
- Specific experience in developing content for and monitoring web-based communication vehicles and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tik Tok and Snapchat is required.
