To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for **Physiotherapy (PT) Clinical Externs (CE) **to support our Rehabilitation Department at our **Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.**

**Responsibilities**

Based on assessment of demonstrated competence, PT CE activities may include:

- Information gathering including chart review, gathering pre-admission history from patients and families
- Gathering and cleaning equipment (mobility aids, chairs, pivot disc/ReTurn, oxygen equipment)
- Taking and monitoring vital signs during assessment/treatment sessions
- Management of lines/tubes during mobility (IV’s, drains, catheters, portable oxygen, etc.)
- Assist with, or perform independently when assigned:

- Transfers
- Mobilization/ambulation
- Stair training
- Upper/lower extremity exercises
- Administrative tasks (ie. printing handouts and resources)
- Communication with interdisciplinary team (ie. Coordinating with RN for pain meds)
- Report patient observations and status following interventions to appropriate team members, such as primary nurse (ie. Changes to patient positioning - transferred to chair, safety factors)
- Documentation of assessment/treatment details in PowerChart when appropriate (must be reviewed and co-signed by PT)
- Job Requirements- Currently enrolled and in 2nd year and the process of completing an MScPT from an accredited program/institution
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Previous placement at Mount Sinai Hospital or another acute care hospital considered an asset
- Strong patient handling skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal); professional, diplomatic and confident with a proven ability to work as a collaborative team member within an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- An official school transcript will be required to interview for this role.
