**What You Need to Note**:
The work location for this position is in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Physical onsite presence at the Mississauga Site Office and the GTA will be required. Applicants should live within a 60-minute commute to the Mississauga Regional Office.
Regional Inspectors perform 80-100 inspections per year in various provinces and territories throughout Canada. They also respond to events and inquiries involving members of the public. An inspector’s time is split between desk work, travelling, and conducting inspections at a wide variety of licensee locations and facilities. Inspectors have freedom and autonomy to schedule inspections and plan work; however, an average of eight to ten (8-10) weeks of overnight travel can be expected throughout the year. On average this means being away from home one week per month.
This position is best suited for individuals who like to be away from their desk, enjoy the challenge of working in varying and sometimes unpredictable environments and who enjoy traveling throughout the GTA and beyond.

**Who you are**
As an Inspector, the decisions you make directly impact the health and safety of Canadians, and you never lose sight of this responsibility. **What you’ll do**
You will be responsible for compliance oversight in different environments where low and medium risk uses of nuclear substances and radiation devices are used such as; hospitals, labs, construction sites and industrial facilities. Inspections are conducted across Canada at licensee’s premises or job sites. You can expect that 50% of your time will be spent preparing for inspections and writing reports, while the other 50% of your time will be carrying out inspections of licensees or conducting other compliance activities involving members of the public.
**Essential qualifications**
**Education**:
- University degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of education, experience, and knowledge.
**Language requirements**:
- English essential
**Experience**:
- Planning or participating in the conduct of various types of audits, site inspections and/or verifications in a regulatory regime (provincial or federal) or in the private sector.
- Application of safety, technical or quality assurance principles.
- Working in a high hazard environment (nuclear, chemical, biological).
**Knowledge**:
- The CNSC’s regulatory framework pertaining to nuclear substances and radiation devices and its powers related to inspections.
