**Position: Algonquin Winter Wilderness Guide**

**Length of contract**:We are seeking a guide for the Winter season Dec-March in general and also seeking a French-speaking guide for a specific 10-day contract in March 2024.
**Voyageur Quest **is a wilderness tour company that specializes in Algonquin Park. Our facilities - the Algonquin Log Cabin, the Algonquin Cottages, Islands, and Voyageur Outfitter are all located at Algonquin Park’s northwest corner at Access Pt #1. Our head office, reservations, and logistics are centered in our Toronto office.
**ALGONQUIN WINTER WILDERNESS GUIDES**
**Voyageur Quest **is looking for Algonquin Winter Guides as Log Cabin guides, naturalists, and outdoor educational leaders to work winter lodge-based interpretative programs at the Algonquin Log Cabin and Algonquin Cottage Outpost. Applicants should have strong leadership skills and be comfortable speaking about Algonquin flora, fauna, night sky and local culture in front of an adult commercial, outdoor education, and family market. Strong interpretative and program skills are essential.
**Applicants should have the following certifications, skills, and experience**:
- Ability to Snowshoe
- Ability to Backcountry ski
- Strong Nature and Wildlife interpretation
- Ice Safety knowledge ideally certification
- Strong guiding and leadership experience in a wilderness environment
- Commercial hospitality experience (with serving meals, kitchen help, lodge welcomes) and a strong desire to optimize customer satisfaction
- Love being outdoors in the winter
- Clear and satisfactory criminal record check
- A driver’s license and a car is an asset to get you to and from the Algonquin Log Cabin and for your days off.
- Though we love them, we are unable to allow pets as accommodation is shared and both customers and staff experience allergies and so on.
- French is an asset
**Contracts Available**:early December 2023 to approx 3rd week in March 2024 and a specific 10 day contract in March 2024.
**Training**:Typically first week in December 2023 and still to be confirmed weather dependent.
**Salary**:$185-250 per day (as per ESA, commensurate with certifications, experience and leadership) plus guests tip to staff directly.
**Other**:Shared accommodation available. Staff overnight at staff accommodation while scheduled guiding a trip and typically return to their homes when they have several days off.
**Job Types**: Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 1-16 weeks
**Salary**: $185.00-$250.00 per day
