**Position Scope**
Reporting to the Manager, HSE the **HSE Technician** plays an essential role in supporting the successful execution of overall business operations through HSE support. This role is mainly in the field and uses their expertise to advise about various HSE policies, procedures and improvements. You are a motivated field HSE professional who is comfortable collaborating with others to support current operations while supporting the development of the organization’s HSE systems.

**Health, Safety and Environment**
- Demonstrate a positive safety culture.
- Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
**Responsibilities**
- Assist in the development and implementation of new and existing programs designed to improve HSE performance, annual maintenance of occupational health and technical safety programs, emergency response planning, audits and assessments.
- Record keeping, reporting, development of written reports.
- Assist in conducting investigations, root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Provide and coordinate HSE training and support to employees and contractors.
- Ensure inspection routines are implemented and monitored for all HSE equipment in the plant.
- Lead/present/facilitate key health and safety topics at employee and contractor engagement forums, meetings and roundtables.
- Champion and monitor the implementation of safe work systems within CE, including energy isolation, hot work, confined space entry, operating mobile equipment, line breaking, electrical work, and environmental.
- Provide hands on field support to ensure waste shipments are properly transported offsite such as containers and labels inspections, appropriate shipping documents required and completed, communication with truck drivers for waste loading.
- Champion safety campaigns based on HSE trends (leading/lagging KPIs) and analysis of incidents.
- Mentor/coach personnel to be a champion of HSE.
- Support the Contractor Management Program initiatives, including audits, field assessments, observations and investigation reviews.
- Assisting or conducting hazard assessments on work and operational processes, such as participating in
- HAZOPs, PHAs, PSSRs, risk assessments and MOC reviews
- Support the Joint Occupational Health and Safety committee.
**Education and Experience**
- Post Secondary education in science, trades, engineering or other technical program.
- Occupational Health and Safety (CRSP, CSO or equivalent experience) considered an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in an HSE role.
- Familiarity of investigation procedures and incident reporting.
- Familiarity of HSE equipment standards.
- Understanding of plant operations HSE procedures:
- Lockout Tagout.
- Working at Height/Fall Arrest.
- Confined Space Entry/Rescue.
- Line Break/Block and Bleed.
- Hot Work.
- Familiarity of environmental standards and regulations (Transportation of Dangerous Goods).
- First Aid training considered an asset.
