**What You'll Do**:
You will have the opportunity to use your expertise to work as part of a team who functions as the corporate authority for geoscience and environmental risk assessments. We ensure that risks to the public and the environment are properly assessed, that appropriate mitigation measures are identified and implemented, and that sound principles are applied in the siting, design, construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities, in order to minimize impacts.

**Reporting to the Director, you’ll**:

- Conduct technical assessments and provide support and advice for licensing and compliance.
- Participate in the development of regulatory framework documents
- Provide advice and contribute to staff development and training
- Manage and/or support research projects and support national and international programs and activities

**Essential Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with specialization in geology. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered.

**Language Requirements**:
English essential

**Experience**:

- Conducting field geology and analytical work
- Working with and communicating to various stakeholders
- Developing/conducting research projects in the geosciences
- Working on or leading multi-disciplinary teams

**Knowledge of**:

- Knowledge and understanding of Canadian geology, in the context of siting of nuclear or other industrial facilities as well as other relevant knowledge such as mineralogy and petrology
- Field geology and analytical work related to site characterization

**Ability**:

- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to synthesize technical information and explain complex scientific issues to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to write and analyze technical reports.

**Asset Qualification**:

- Education and/or Certification: PhD
- Professional registration as a geoscientist
- Knowledge in other secondary geoscience disciplines
- Experience and/or knowledge of the nuclear industry
