Ministry of Emergency Management & Climate Readiness (EMCR) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMCR’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMCR works directly with local authorities, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

The Lead, Public Alerting Program Operations works with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the development, implementation and sustainment of EMCR public safety communications with stakeholders. The Public Alerting Program Operations Lead is the Provincial expert responsible for technical and non-technical, operational support for EMCR public alerting and emergency operational communications with key stakeholders (e.g. other ministries, Federal government, RCMP, local authorities, First Nations, etc.). This responsibility starts with the identification of capability gaps and solutions through to the implementation and ongoing support of any approved solutions.

**Job Requirements**:

- Undergraduate degree in business administration, public administration, public policy, communications, education, social sciences, or a related field and 2 years of related experience; **OR**:

- Diploma in business administration, public administration, public policy, communications, education, social sciences, or a related field and 3 years of related experience; **OR**:

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience is defined as a combination of the following:

- Experience in a management role planning, developing, implementing and/or leading collaborative and multi-stakeholder (internal and external) relationships.
- Experience in implementing programs and support in organizational change and service delivery.
- Experience balancing conflicting interests and negotiating/mediating solutions in critical high-stress situations.
- Experience in leading project teams and working with stakeholders to develop effective plans and policies.
- Experience in emergency management.
- Travel on short notice regularly
- Work flexible hours and be available for emergency activations 24/7
