Conservation Technician

**Conservation Technician - DesBrisay Museum**

**(Term position: 8-16 weeks, 2 positions)**

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Conservation Technician will work with the DesBrisay Museum’s Research and Collections Coordinator, and a team of other Conservation Technicians to contribute to the heritage collection’s preservation and access by undertaking collection cleaning in accordance with conservation best practice.

**ABOUT YOU**

**Education/ Experience**:

- Education in history, folklore, archaeology, anthropology, museum studies, or conservation is an asset.
- Previous experience with collection conservation is a strong asset, but not required (training is provided).

**Skills**
- Good communication skills, especially writing and reading comprehension
- Familiar with local culture, including an interest in regions history and heritage
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

**Terms and Conditions of Employment**:

- Non-union
- This is a 8-16-week.
- Operates out of the DesBrisay Museum (130 Jubilee Rd).
- Tasks will include cleaning artifacts with HEPA vacuums, smoke sponges, brushes, and any other conservation materials deemed necessary by the team. The incumbent will be required to wear proper PPE at all times.
- Wage: $16.00/hr
