Conservation Technician

**Conservation Technician - DesBrisay Museum**

**(Term position: 8-16 weeks, 2 positions)**

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The student will work with the DesBrisay Museum’s Research and Collections Coordinator to contribute to the heritage collection’s preservation and access. This project will give the student an opportunity to learn conservation techniques in a museum environment. It will provide an opportunity to develop research skills, report writing, conservation skills, and project implementation. It will also allow the student to develop networks with local businesses and provincial heritage staff and colleagues. This project will ensure the long-term preservation of the DesBrisay Museum’s heritage collection and secure the community’s access to heritage.

**Terms and Conditions of Employment**:

- Non-union
- Operates out of the DesBrisay Museum (130 Jubilee Rd) and occasionally from Town Hall (60 Pleasant Street).
- Tasks will include cleaning artifacts with HEPA vacuums, smoke sponges, brushes, and any other conservation materials deemed necessary by the team. The incumbent will be required to wear proper PPE at all times.
- Wage: $15.00/hr
