As a key member of the Corporate Accounting Team, the Manager, Accounting provides financial analysis, support, and control to residential and development business functions. They oversee a team of 5+ accounting staff, ensuring the efficiency of day-to-day accounting processes (e.g., accounts payable, receivables, and general ledger accounting). Additionally, the Manager, Accounting prepares important business reports for Corporate Finance group review and distribution.
- **Please note**: this role requires a full-time, in-person commitment at our Head Office in Barrhaven.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and oversee the accounting team for efficient daily operations.
- Schedule and ensure timely completion of monthly accounting tasks.
- Coordinate monthly accounting record closures, including reconciliation, intercompany balances, and more.
- Assist in preparing year-end working paper files for corporate group companies.
- Perform bank reconciliations and prepare monthly HST filings.
- Maintain data integrity and establish relationships with other departments.
- Ensure compliance and recommend finance policy improvements.
- Oversee and enhance internal control systems.
- Evaluate and streamline existing processes for efficiency.
- Prepare and analyze ad hoc financial reports as needed.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by management.

You Will Bring:

- College Diploma or University Degree in Accounting.
- 5+ years of team management experience.
- Proficient in advanced Excel functions, pivot tables, etc.
- Construction or land development industry background is a plus.
- Strong customer-focused relationship builder with collaborative work style.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Results-oriented with a track record of setting and meeting goals.
- Familiarity with Enterprise accounting software, Newstar is a bonus.
- Construction industry experience is advantageous.
- Self-starter who produces high-quality work under pressure.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of accounting functions' interdependence.
- Leadership, development, and training of finance team members.
- Resourceful in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective at problem-solving and decision-making.
