Reporting to the Head of Project Management & Asset Management, the Design Manager will be part of a team designing energy solutions for large business and institutional customers including electric vehicle charging, battery storage, solar PV and power generation. Your work will help unlock the full potential of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, driving the transition to a clean energy economy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead the design efforts on large scale projects
- Successfully deliver designs on budget, on schedule, and in compliance with program standards
- knowledge of electrical engineering to peer review the quality of design and specifications
- Liaise with suppliers as required to ensure compatibility of equipment proposed with the overall system
- Assist project managers in the commissioning program by providing technical support
- Interpret client requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget
- Lead, review and manage third-party design consultants through schematics, design development and installation
- Review design submissions from third-party to ensure compliance with the project agreements executed with clients
- Develop and maintain contracts
- Present the design to stakeholders during early project phases within cost parameters.
- Visits project sites to monitor progress and conformance to company established standards
- Communicate and collaborate internally with technical teams, project managers, schedulers, and purchasers
- Be involved in planning, developing and coordinating project-related activities
- Prepare, review, and process drawings, and maintain as-built drawings
- Assist with final deliverables, ensuring the quality of the final output and seek feedback post initiative
- Maintain knowledge of design trends and innovative products
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

- University Degree in Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in engineering design
- Proven track record managing projects and people
- Technical knowledge of EV charging, battery storage and other electrical equipment
- Experience managing electrical projects involving, solar, batteries, generation, distribution or EV’s an asset
