Reporting to the Youth Programs Manager, the Youth Worker is responsible for the direct implementation of ACCESS’ core values of Respect, Honor, Sharing and Kindness as they pertain to care and support of clients. The Youth worker’s primary role is to build empathetic relationships and mentor youth. The Youth Worker will collaborate with the Youth Manager, and community resources to help youth reach their goals and transition to healthy, confident adults.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Ensure adherence to and role model ACCESS’ mission statement and core values
- Greet and welcome Youth accessing ACCESS’ services, assess and respond to their immediate needs, and provide them with practical resources including food, clothing, transportation, etc.
Understand Career Life 10 with emphasis on My Blueprint and find work placements
- Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with at youth K-12
- Upon entry to the Youth Leadership Program, introduce the services provided, orient new youth, complete program intake/admission
- Work collaboratively with Youth Programs Manager to assist youth by to understanding Indigenous leadership programs - Duke of Edinburgh Leadership Program
- Support youth with daily routines in a structured environment
- Assist youth with accessing external community supports and accompany them if needed
- Coordinate youth meetings and activities, including recreation and life skills
**Case Management, Documentation and Other Duties**
- Maintain the Youth database [ARMS database]
- Manage youth case files, including all relevant reporting and documentation
- Attend all training as directed by your manager
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the program areas - both staff and youth
- Clean, search, and remake resident rooms at discharge
- Front Desk and reception duties as required
- Other duties as required
**Qualifications**:
- Certificate or Diploma in related social service
- Minimum of 2 years related experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiar working in an Indigenous environment
- Valid first aid certificate
- Familiar with runaway and street involved youth issues
- Basic computer skills
- Class 5 license
**Salary**: From $22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Vancouver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
