The Catering & Events Chef is a pivotal role in the efficient operation of Summit Lodge Food Services, responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of food for a diverse range of functions and events. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role involves supervising, training, and coaching team members to ensure exceptional culinary experiences for guests. The Catering & Events Chef collaborates closely with the Senior Sales and Services Manager, Catering Assistant Manager, and event planners to meet client specifications and uphold high standards of quality and service.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Train, supervise, and coach team members for the efficient operation of Summit Lodge Food Services.
- Work closely with the Senior Sales and Services Manager, Catering Assistant Manager, and event planners to prepare food for various functions and events.
- Advance sustainability goals by supporting the development of effective waste reduction and sorting programs to increase employee and guest engagement.
- Inspect food preparation methods and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage while controlling costs.
- Develop catering menus, create recipes, and update station guides.
- Schedule team members and manage labor controls.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in a sanitary condition and ensure adequate supplies are available.
- Manage plate presentation for consistency and update as necessary.
- Share special event information with daily teams and guests.
- Support event processes in coordination with Group Sales and Events.
- Ensure compliance with Foodsafe regulations through temperature checks and stock rotation.
- Maintain par stock levels by calculating inventory and ordering supplies.
- Develop and implement cost-saving and profit-enhancing measures.
- Conduct daily and regular meetings with the team.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with Sea to Sky Gondola Occupational Health and Safety Program and WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Chef and other team members as required.
**Required Skills and Experience**:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chef or Kitchen Manager in a high-volume F&B environment.
- Experience executing high-level catered events preferred.
- Strong relationship-building skills with guests and vendors.
- Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of food service techniques and cost controls.
- Passion for people and the outdoors.
- Serving it Right Certificate and FoodSafe Level 1 required.
- Red Seal certification is an asset.
- Completion of Culinary Degree or Arts Program preferred.
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 10 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, coach, and train a team.
- Mature, friendly, and well-groomed demeanor.
- Criminal Record Check required.
