Community Engagement/Volunteer Coordinator intern Job Description

**Wage Range**: $17-19/hour
**Department**: Community Engagement
**Hours**: 35hrs/w

You will drive the Volunteer Coordination at IslamicFamily, building a foundation for months ahead. You will be part of a new volunteer system that seeks to recognize and incentivize the people who donate their time to their community.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for acting as the first point of contact for volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator will work in a close-knit, high-performing Community Engagement team in support of IslamicFamily’s Volunteer and Community engagement efforts, focusing on driving a positive volunteer experience. You will be able to organize & recruit volunteers, plan events, facilitate volunteer training and more. You will be curious and confident, ready to collaborate with a very diverse team and diverse set of dedicated volunteers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Onboarding: Facilitating the onboarding process for new volunteers, including interviewing, providing orientation sessions and obtaining Police Information Checks.
- Training: Scheduling training sessions with designated staff, and distributing training materials and sign in procedures to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Support and Guidance: Offering ongoing support and guidance to volunteers, including answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing resources to help them succeed in their roles.
- Mentorship: Serving as a mentor to volunteers, offering advice, sharing best practices, and helping them develop skills and confidence in their volunteer work.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the performance of volunteers, providing feedback on their work, and identifying areas for improvement or additional training as needed.
- Conflict Resolution: Assisting in resolving conflicts or issues that may arise between volunteers or between volunteers and staff members, using effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Recognition and Appreciation: Recognizing and appreciating the contributions of volunteers through various means, such as verbal praise, written thank-you notes, or recognition events.
- Communication: Maintaining open and effective communication with volunteers, keeping them informed about IslamicFamily updates, upcoming events, and relevant information related to their roles.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate records of volunteer information, including contact details, training completion, performance evaluations and hours completed.
- Program Evaluation: Participating in the evaluation of the volunteer program, gathering feedback from volunteers, and making recommendations for improvements to enhance volunteer satisfaction and engagement.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with other staff members and volunteer coordinators to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment for volunteers and to align volunteer efforts with IslamicFamily's mission and goals.

**Work Plan**:
