The position of the Human Resources Assistant is an integral part of the Human Resources Department. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you are the first point of contact for Human Resources and responsible for providing general support in the areas of recruitment administration, benefits, and corporate training administration, as well as coordinating departmental administrative detail and responding to routine problems.

**Qualifications**
- Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by post‐secondary education in Human Resources or another related field.
- Two to five years administrative experience preferably in an HR and/or unionized environment.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Ability to support full‐cycle recruitment activities including recruitment and onboarding for casual and temporary staff and assisting with clerical pool administration.
- Ability to perform specialized clerical work in maintaining and updating HR systems, internal staff web pages and other systems as required.
- Ability to provide administrative support in the delivery of various HR programs including training, health and safety and other HR initiatives.
- Ability to plan and organize staff functions.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties relating to administration for Union and Exempt employees.
- Maintaining employee physical and electronic files.
- Record keeping and admin duties as required.
- Supporting in processing new hires, terminations, and personnel changes.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries along with monitoring benefits data as needed.
- Submitting HR and payroll related reports.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping of employee participation in benefit plans and coordinate with external vendors or brokers as necessary.
- Process and reconcile departmental invoices.
- Maintain open communication with managers by assisting in day‐to‐today issues.
- Maintain accurate employee records in our Human Resources Information System and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
- Handle employee inquiries and provide timely and effective support on HR‐related matters, such as benefits, policies, and procedures.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and customer service, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Good organizational abilities and careful attention to detail.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential material in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Applications.
- Proactive problem‐solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‐paced environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet multiple deadlines with competing priorities and requiring a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Hold a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with a demonstrated safe driving record.
