Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS-related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Facilities Department is responsible for managing Seaspan Shipyard’s assets. This includes the maintenance and upkeep of all physical land, buildings and structures, and all equipment related to the physical plant or production activities. The Facilities Maintenance Department is responsible for the overall continuous development of the maintenance and reliability programs to ensure maximum availability and reliability of equipment.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the facilities maintenance team to enhance, innovate, and standardize maintenance procedures in accordance with Seaspan's internal policies. Your focus will be on driving improvements in the maintenance and reliability program to ensure the maximum reliability and efficiency of equipment.

**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at our Operations Center at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**

**What you will do**
- Assist the maintenance manager in identifying potential problems and recommending solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Help to create a detailed plan for regular, preventive, condition-based, and predictive maintenance activities.
- Develop and conduct plans using predictive techniques for critical equipment.
- Review and enhance existing maintenance plans.
- Contribute to creating lists of materials needed for critical equipment.
- Contribute to the creation and management of the maintenance and reliability program for the facility such as creating and updating current tools.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for maintenance tasks.
- Support maintenance planners in checking the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) data quality.
- Assist in the migration of databases.

**What you’ll bring**
- Enrollment in a degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- General knowledge of maintenance strategies.
- General knowledge of predictive techniques such as vibrations, thermography, oil analysis, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized with strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Computer proficiency in the Windows environment.
- Self-starter.

Seaspan’s Internships are 4 months in duration. We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
