**Position Description**

The CPCO position is a blend of advancing strategic initiatives while supporting day-to-day operations.

Reporting to the Vice President (VP), the Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) is a functional, strategic, and influential leader who directs all aspects of the organizations people services.

In this role, the CPCO will be responsible for the direction, leadership, management, and administration of the human resources (HR) department. Aligned with the organizations mission, vision, values, and strategic plan, the CPCO will work closely with team members to define and deliver outstanding customer service, strategic support, and operational excellence in human resources, while creating an exceptional employee experience. This will include the development of standards, performance metrics, policies, priorities, and strategic initiatives that advance the People and Culture Strategy.

The CPCO will oversee all stages of the employee experience including the design and implementation of strategies that will attract, engage, and develop team members.

As a culture influencer, the CPCO will work closely with the President and executive leadership to help strengthen and further frame the culture and shared values across the organization.

The CPCO will function as the chief negotiator for staff collective agreements, responsible for strategic labour relations decision making, while overseeing the administration of collective agreements, grievance, and issue management.

**What You Bring**

With a combination of education and experience, as a Certified Human Resources Leader, you:
Have a degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business or the equivalent in other education and experience. A CHRL designation is required.

Have a minimum 10 years of HR/People Operations (healthcare environment would be an asset), with a demonstrated progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.

Possess excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and change management skills. Your strong people leadership skills and natural coaching and mentorship abilities provide you with the capability to motivate and inspire teams.

Are recognized as an effective change leader and successful in building relationships, you have demonstrated experience in advising on organizational wide change initiatives that impact people and culture, including the design and implementation of diversity-enhancing initiatives and practices.

Have been successful in the development of people and culture initiatives that exhibited an enhanced employee experience.

Have the proven ability to think strategically, recognize gaps/opportunities, and are comfortable moving across organizational lines to initiate action.

Have demonstrated negotiation and conflict management skills, which are evident through your advanced ability to manage labour relations, and function as a chief spokesperson in collective bargaining and in developing bargaining strategies.

Have a track record of successful leadership in a multi-bargaining union environment (healthcare preferred).

Have deep knowledge and execution experience in workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent development and total rewards strategies.
