The Abby Community School Society is looking for an enthusiastic, positive-minded, and energetic individual to join their instructing team. We are looking for an Assistant Program Manager who will work alongside the Program Manager and instruct our Caring Kids Collective Program.

**About ACSS - What is a community school?**

It is a designated school facility that is open beyond the traditional school schedule to offer a variety of community learning and recreational opportunities to people of all ages. Community schools are multi-service facilities working in partnership with other community agencies, organizations and individuals to improve the quality of life in the community. Our Community school will be running classes out of schools in Abbotsford and are such as but not limited to, Abbotsford Senior Secondary School, Abbotsford Middle School, Eugene Reimer Middle School, Chief Dan George Middle School, Dormick Park Elementary, Alexander Elementary School, Matsqui Elementary, Ross Elementary, Godson Elementary, Prince Charles Elementary, Clearbrook Elementary, Ten-Broeck Elementary, Terry Fox Elementary, Centennial Park Elementary, Harry Sayers Elementary, Dave Kandal Elementary and Auguston Elementary, and Aberdeen Elementary.

**What is our goal?**
To enrich the lives of the people in our community by offering a wide range of cultural, recreational, and educational programs and opportunities. Applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check. Current First Aid is an asset. Compensation is based on experience and programs that are being led. Compensation for successful applicants is $19.00 per hour for this program.

**Caring Kids Collective - Assistant Program Manager**

The ACSS Caring Kids Collective Program is generously sponsored by the United Way, BC Lower Mainland’s ‘School’s Out Initiative’. The purpose of this program, is to provide students with opportunities in which they can give back to their Abbotsford community. Students will learn about the importance of gratitude, friendship, sense of community and belongingness. The program focuses on creating arts and crafts, participating in gratitude journaling, partaking in group-lead activities, and making items that are then given to vulnerable individuals/groups in need within the Abbotsford community. This program runs from Monday to Thursday, from 2:30pm - 4:30pm and is offered at (2) school locations. The Assistant Manager will work with the Program Manager for this program. You and your program partner will have 30 minutes before the program to prepare and 30 minutes after the program to clean up.

**Responsibilities**

The duties and responsibilities of the Caring Kids Collective Assistant Program Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Work alongside the Program Manager and lesson plan for the program (program runs 4 times per week)
- Work independently and be in charge of up to 16 students
- Be passionate to work with children (elementary age, Grades K -5)
- Attend all scheduled shifts (afternoon, from 2pm - 5pm)
- Be in good communication with the Program Manager & the Program Coordinator on classroom & student progression
- Be able to receive constructive feedback from Program Manager
- Fill out incident reports, & support the Program Manager with parents, students, etc.
- Supervise the program; help to troubleshoot alongside the Program Manager
- Follow ACSS' Protocols & Procedures
- Treat ACSS Staff, Parents, Students, & School Administration with respect at all times
- Work well with others & have a team minded mentality
- Create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging learning environment for students
- Be adaptable; excellent troubleshooting and multi-tasking abilities
- Run educational & recreational activities, games, & crafts
- Be welcoming to guest visitors/speakers on occasional program visits
- Create positive rapport with ACSS Staff, Students & Parents
- Exercise professionalism, kindness, and honesty in the workplace
- Be community minded and willing to help people in need
- Be creative, enthusiastic, positive, energetic, and eager to learn new things

**Requirements**:

- First Aid & CPR Certification
- Work the entire duration of the program (October 2024 - June 2025)
- Ability to work at (2) school locations, Alexander Elementary & Dormick Park Elementary
- Have a reliable source of transportation to and from programs, to our office, etc.
- Childcare Experience (preferred)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
