Farm Manager

Woodleigh Farms Ltd. is looking for a positive, skilled, and motivated individual for full-time help in the capacity of Farm Manager.

A sixth-generation, family farm located in the beautiful rolling hills of Cavan, ON, we farm corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, and hay on approximately 500 acres. Additionally, we produce maple syrup (certified organic) and operate a commercial passive solar greenhouse using green technologies which also supports our market garden (organic practices). Most recently we’ve added a flock of sheep to compliment our soil health initiatives.

Compensation will be based on your experience and your ability to complete the following farm related tasks and should include the majority of the following:

- Passionate about agriculture, **with farming experience**
- Experience safely operating all types of farm related machinery, including but not limited to: tractors, skid steer, dozer, payloader, excavator, combine, forage equipment, spraying, etc.)
- Maintenance experience and ability to repair farm related machinery and vehicles of husbandry including prioritizing, tracking as well as preventative maintenance (welding, mechanical and electrical)
- Independent, reliable, task & solutions oriented
- Ability to plan for cropping cycles and prioritize activities and outcomes
- Attention to detail & ability to network with industry leaders and suppliers
- Ability to manage the farm’s soil sampling program and variety of trials conducted in the fields (setup, collection, analysis, interpretation)
- Ability to work with farming technologies (GPS, yield monitors, variable rate)
- Ability to participate in and manage all labour activities specific to farming practices
- Have business & financial planning as well as budgeting experience
- Human resources & staff supervision experience
- Participate in regular planning meetings with management and team members
- Excel at record keeping (paper, Microsoft Excel and farm software), tracking of information, and forecasting

Additional licenses are considered an asset:

- Heavy equipment operator’s certificate
- Grower pesticide safety course
- Chainsaw operator’s certificate
- Mechanics license
- AZ license

**Salary**: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
