Route Supervisor

The Route supervisor will oversee all daily operations of commercial routes and residential routes. To ensure all employees are performing to the company policies and procedures and the appropriate laws that govern them. Oversee and provide leadership to all employees with the ability to communicate to them on a daily basis. Develop and review routes, operating statistics and budgets to company standards. Direct all employees as needed and follow direction from your manager
Key Accountabilities
Daily
- Direct supervisor for all residential contracts and Front end drivers
- Print off routes and organize clipboards and phones
- Perform Incident investigations as needed
- Manage and attend all Health and Safety meetings and train employees on any safety issues
- Review the commercial and residential collections trip sheets for accuracy
- Assist in preparing the daily schedule of operations
- Manage and provide leadership for all direct reporting employees
- Manage customer complaints and concerns, document and file closed issues
- Manage any HR concerns with staff on Hiring, discipline, vacations and WSIB.
- Perform OBA’s with drivers and labourer’s
- Fill in driver/loader as needed
Weekly
- Attend meetings as required
- Provide training on weekly tailgate topics and 1 on 1 training as needed
- Oversee that all employees are adhering to GFL company policies and procedures
- Compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Stock PPE cabinet
- Manage spill kits
- Perform interviews and road tests for new hires
- Assist fleet manager with yard operations and cleanliness
Monthly
- Review financials and KPI’s
- Develope strategies to resolve the misses and implement plans.
- Attend meetings as required
- Perform H&S safety inspection and attend meeting
- Work with management to achieve Budget, World Class safety and Growth.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability to plan, prioritize and execute
- Excellent knowledge of operations
- Strong knowledge of trucks and equipment

Education & Experience
- Supervisor training
- WSIB certified training certificate
- First Aid training certificate
- Experience and strong knowledge in operating waste vehicles
- Experience and strong knowledge of operating all company machines
- Strong knowledge of Highway traffic act and OH & S Act
- Minimum DZ drivers license
- WHIMIS training
- Experience using MS Word, Excel and preferably Trux system
