**KEY FUNCTION**:
Ensure available equipment and supplies are maintained for the Operating Room/Post Anesthetic Care Unit. Provide input related to departmental supply, expenses, budgetary impacts and current trends.

**REPORTING**:
Under the general direction of the Clinical Manager, Operating Room/Post Anesthetic Care Unit.

**DUTIES**:

- Ensure equipment and supplies are available for the Operating Room (OR) medical/nursing staff.
- Work with Leadership and Program Accountants and provide input regarding financial analysis related to supplies and equipment in the Operating Room.
- Act as a liaison between Purchasing, Operating Room, Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD), and medical staff to coordinate the arrival of equipment and supplies.
- Attend OR leadership meetings and provide input on equipment needs and budget impact as required.
- Oversee contracts with suppliers; liaise with Purchasing regarding changes in contract costs and/or product changes.
- Communicate supply issues/disruptions to end-users; promptly notify of any backorders.
- Maintain accurate inventory and data entry of supplies, including adjusting stock levels according to patterns of usage and new product availability.
- Meet with vendor representatives; communicate pricing and supply issues as required.
- Complete inventory counts regularly throughout fiscal year.
- Research and recommend supplies and equipment based on market trends.
- Trace backorders and liaise with Purchasing and OR for alternate solutions.
- Ensure special order supplies arrive in a timely fashion reflective of the Operating Room date.
- Review/update Meditech dictionary related to current equipment and supplies being used (e.g. product codes/descriptions).
- Coordinate with medical/nursing staff regarding the evaluation of new products.
- Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
- Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**:

- Minimum of a two (2) year Diploma in Business or a related field, from an accredited college.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a supply and equipment role related to an Operating Room.

**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment and supplies related to the Operating Room.
- Demonstrated excellent collaborative skills.
- Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), Material Management systems, and Operating Room Module (ORM).
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks/projects, diversified workload and rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
- Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
