**Student Arrival Coordinator**

Reporting to Manager, International and Exchange Students, the Student Arrival Coordinator will be key to the development of a strong, flexible, and personalized support for international students arriving in Canada, creating a smooth transition to Mohawk College and the Hamilton Community. Focusing on international student success and retention, Student Arrival Coordinator will ensure international students are provided with the necessary tools, information, and resources to successfully arrive and transition to Mohawk and the Hamilton community. Developing, organizing, and facilitating predeparture sessions for students before they travel to Canada (ie. responsibilities include tracking and monitoring all elements related to country entry requirements) and once in country, delivering welcome and orientation events. These initiatives will support international students in areas such as personal, academic and cultural adjustment, transition strategies, and settlement (including but not limited to: providing information and resources about the college and the city, housing, local transportation, banking, internet and mobile services, government resources and community services).

This position may require the incumbent to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays and will also require work out of multiple campuses.

**Responsibilities**:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
**Pre-Arrival Coordination**
- ** **Researching best practices at partner institutions and conducting needs analysis to provide best services in supporting new students’ pre-arrival needs
- Creation, promotion and execution of pre-arrival webinars and workshops for new students
- Vetting housing options for future students and providing recommendations in student consultations and information sessions
- Developing, organizing, and facilitating welcome and orientation events
- Ensuring international students are provided with the necessary information, tools, and resources to successfully transition to Mohawk and their new community
- Participating in college-wide, virtual student program orientations and in-person orientation events and initiatives
- Working closely with International Student Services and the Student Life team to deliver informative, timely and region-specific pre-arrival communications and support
- Creation, marketing and promotion of pre-arrival guides and information to students and agents
- Liaising with cross-college resources (example: International Student Services, Academics, Student Life) to understand, collate, and market pre-arrival information for students

**Student Communications, Social Media, Website**
- ** **Responsible for content creation and updates within the Pre and Post Arrivals /iCent app and Mohawk College website related to arrivals support from pre-arrival through to arrival and transition stage.
- Creates and supports creation of communications plans that provide pre-arrival/arrival supports, resources and information to students and their co-arriving family members in accessible formats (e.g., plain language, pictures, symbols, available as needed in languages other than English and French as appropriate by students).

**Arrival Services and Transition Supports**
- ** **Coordinate services and programs offered by colleges to welcome and assist international students on arrival in Canada. This includes airport pickup and transport to campus/residence among other supports
- Arrival in Canada - Airport support and pick-up/transportation services
- Collaboration with community groups like Hamilton International Students, Lift and Global Hamilton connect to support transition and integration into community - Shopping, Restaurants, Athletics, Recreation, Driver’s License, Phone, Budgeting etc.

This includes working with community stakeholders like YMCA where a Settlement Specialist form the YMCA Employment and Immigrant Services meets with students to provide information on resources to settle in Hamilton, programs in the community that are available to internati
