**Description**:
Focus on Youth (FOY) is a partnership between Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic DSB and the Ontario government. Through servicing the mandates established through the Ministry of Education’s Focus On Youth Program, and keeping with the HWCDSB mission and vision statement, learning is effectively extended beyond the classroom, allowing students in risk situations the opportunity to be engaged in safe and supportive environments. Through the provision of various initiatives, projects, programs & special events, identified students are engaged through the summer months, while others are gainfully employed and given the opportunity to continue to experience and grow in the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, essentially building their resume of experiences and preparing to live comfortable, healthy, and productive lives as active and contributing members of society.

**Site Supervisor Responsibilities**:

- Prepare daily prayers and other faith-based activities
- Plan, organize and lead the day camp activities for children aged 7-13
- Plan daily/weekly creative activities in advance of the start of camp & align with weekly themes
- Participate in weekly and daily themed activities. (i.e. crazy hair day)
- Submission of weekly activity plans for review and pre-approval by FOY Coordinator
- Responsible for organization of camp materials, supplies, and inventory for assigned camp(s)
- Assist with initial and ongoing training of junior staff
- Facilitate regular camp/site meetings with junior staff
- Supervise and provide performance feedback and mentor camp counselors/student leaders
- Draft weekly submissions for newsletter and/or posting to website
- Prepare attendance lists and track attendance (junior staff and students)
- Work with FOY Coordinator to schedule junior staff and monitor daily/weekly work logs
- Liaise with the FOY Coordinator on a regular basis to ensure program quality and alignment with his/her overall program vision
- Prepare permission slips for outings and oversee all aspects of off
- site field trips (may include pool-based activities and swimming at some camp locations)
- Complete and follow up with incident and injury reports
- Address parental concerns and questions to ensure satisfaction and a quality camp experience
- Extended Care, Lunch Supervision, Bus Line, Parent Pick-up/Drop off, & Field Trips
- Ensure nutritious and daily snacks are in stock and available at assigned camp
- Attendance at all scheduled Site Supervisor training
- Participation in Final Summer Camp Celebration

**Required Skills/Knowledge**:

- High energy, organized, team player, motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic
- Ability to work independently in planning, prep, and program monitoring & delivery
- Experience teaching or working with children in a camp or school setting
- Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
- Specialized skills and aptitudes in at least one of the following areas; Athletics, Performing Arts, Arts & Crafts, Music, Media, STEM, Leadership, Environment, Service Learning, Literacy,

Numeracy.
- Experience creating and implementing children’s programming in a school or camp setting
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong computer skills, able to enter data accurately and efficiently

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 3 years experience with children ages 7 to 18 in a camp or educational setting
- Experience in program planning and development
- Experience supervising staff or students in a camp environment or related discipline
- Experience in youth mentorship
- Experience in the appropriate handling of a wide variety of youth related issues
- Experience working with children and families from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Standard First Aid/ CPR/ must be completed prior to placement
- Criminal record clearance and vulnerable sector check prior to start of employment
- Working knowledge of HWCDSB policies and facilities an asset

**Wage**:
$21.00-25.00 per hour
