The Corporate Manager, Financial Policies and Special Projects is responsible for leading the development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic plan, standards and policies within the Finance Department for the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and its’ Agencies. This position supports corporate initiated projects in Finance, manages audits, implements new accounting standards, develops policies and procedures and represents the Finance Corporate Directors on committees and other work groups.

**What you’ll do**
- Coordinates, on behalf of the Finance Directors, the development, evaluation and communication of the mission and strategic plan for the Finance division ensuring alignment with the overall mission and strategic plans of the PHSA. Reviews goals and objectives of individual Finance departments to ensure appropriate alignment with overall Finance division strategic plan. Reports to, or on behalf of the Finance Corporate Directors regarding Finance division performance against established measurement parameters.
- Leads or participates in corporate initiatives and projects related to financial operations by defining project scope, developing project plans, supporting the work of project team members, overseeing project implementation and evaluating results.
- Manages the design, development, implementation and communication of new or revised accounting policies and procedures.
- Identifies new initiatives, partnership opportunities and new developments, policies, procedures and internal controls in area of responsibility through analysis, literature review, contact with peers at other organizations, industry advisor groups, professional associations and attendance at seminars, workshops and education programs. Where required, makes recommendations to supervisor for evaluation and/or approval. Leads or participates in resulting initiatives or other corporate initiated projects for area of responsibility, including: defining project scope, developing project plans, supporting the work of project team members, overseeing project implementation, reporting and evaluating results.

**What you bring**

Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA), with a minimum of ten (10) years recent related experience within a large complex multi-site organization in a position with increasing responsibility.

Skills & Knowledge
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents - including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Supports team members on their ongoing learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Ensure integration of the legislative obligations and provincial commitments into policies, procedures and programs prior to engaging IH teams/departments.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
