**Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to**:

- Implement groups and individual activation & therapeutic programs assigned by the Director (i.e. social activities, church services, crafts, games, sensory stimulation activities, etc.).
- Set up the activity area as necessary and assist resident to and from programs.
- monitor behavior and condition of residents during programs, reporting any significant changes to the Director and nursing staff, as appropriate.
- Participate in care conferences and other team meetings as required, to assist in reviewing activation needs of residents.
- participate in development and revision of programs under the guidance of the Director.
- Report resident participation to Director and chart daily attendance on computer.
- Adhere to established department policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, environment and infection control.
- Collaborate with peers and other departments to meet resident needs.
- Follow all guidelines for employees and employers, as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Use safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health & safety.
- Complete all mandatory education assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation & leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college of university (i.e. Social Service Worker); or
- Enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field.
- Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Criminal Reference Check that includes a vulnerable sector screen and has been conducted within prior six months;
- Evidence of a clear 2-step TB skin test.

**Desired Experience**:

- Previous experience working in recreation & leisure activities, therapeutic recreation or kinesiology;
- Previous experience working in long term care;
- Familiar with POC (Point of Care) and/or Activity Pro software

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.29-$23.14 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Holidays
- Weekends as needed
