Our mission is to deliver safe, cutting-edge and environmentally sustainable maintenance and construction services to railway track owners and operators across Canada. We design, build and maintain all levels of rail for various clients.
Thermite Welding Foreman will be responsible for leading a Thermite Welding team in planning, organizing and managing one of our rail operations, ensuring track maintenance, track inspections, upkeep on MOW equipment is done in a safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient manner.
This position requires you to oversee teams which build and maintain rail for different clients throughout the Canada. It also requires you to safety build/repair railroad tracks, switches, crossings, etc. via Thermite Welding and general rail construction operation.
These positions require travel 100% of the time throughout Canada for extended periods of time. Railway work is VERY physically demanding and will require working in all types of weather conditions and climate. You will be working in a team environment building and maintaining railways in numerous locations across Canada.

**Job Duties**
Thermite Welding Foremen duties will be, but not limited to:
- Meet productivity level requirements set out by Operation Team
- Plan, manage, promote, discipline and be overall responsible for direct reports
- Operates equipment and duties per safety policies, rules and regulations
- Experienced in the safe operations of the Thermite Welding Process
- Experienced in the use of Oxygen/Propane cutting and preheating processes
- Experienced in general railroad track work; such as; rail cutting, rail measuring, rail removal, rail replacement, switch configuration, track construction and restoration
- Ability to evaluate basic track work duties; spiking, anchoring, surfacing, rail cutting, changing rail, switch assembly, checking surface, gauging, etc.
- Building and maintaining railroads throughout Canada
- Operating hand-held and power tools for various construction.
- Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials. Document, escalate and remove safely off site.
- Perform routine maintence, toolbox talks, performance evaluations, disciplines, conflict resolution and various Foremen related duties to managing their crew
- Keeps records and prepares reports of maintenance work
- Ensuring safety is a priority to yourself, fellow team members, the general public and the assets of the company by following pre-set policies and procedures
- Daily walk around inspection of machines, general housekeeping of machines and minor repairs when required to ensure safe operation
- Working and communicating effectively with York Rail and/or Customers Working Team(s)
- Compliance with track rules and instructions according to CROR
- Filling out required paperwork in a neat and accurate manner and adhering to submission deadlines
- Driving of company vehicles in a responsible, respectful and safe manner
- Other duties as assigned
**Job Requirements**:
- 3 Year minimum of Thermite Welding experience in a heavy railroad industrial environment
- 1 Year minimum of Thermite Welding Foremen experience in a heavy railroad industrial environment
- Thorough knowledge of the Thermite Welding process and procedure
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check & Drug Test
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licenses
- First Aid Certification is an Asset
- Valid CROR Certification is an Asset
- Prior TIGS is an Asset
- Ability to travel and work across Canada based on various schedules
- Knowledge of Construction and Workplace Safety lifting and handling procedures
- Fluent in English with the ability to read, write and speak effectively
- Physically capable of repetitive bending, standing for long periods of time, lifting/carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, repetitive swinging motions and walking on uneven surfaces (approximately 3 miles per day).
- Ability to work in the elements across all weather conditions (summer heat, rain, dusty conditions, winter cold etc.)
- Willingness to work with hazardous materials such as creosote, lubricants, oil, gasoline and diesel fuel safely
- Ability to be exposed to continuous and regular loud noises
Pay: $30.00 per hour
