Overview:
**Responsibilities**:
The incumbent must hold an Alberta Instrument Trade cerificatem or Red Seal.

Duties, Knowledge/Skills/Abilities include installing, inspecting, servicing, calibrating and maintaining all instrumentation equipment (field instruments, actuated valves, control hardware, etc) in a petrochemical plant.

Instrument Mechanic:

- Responsible for safety and housekeeping in the Instrument Shop.
- Operate, repair, calibrate and install process control instruments in a highly skilled manner.
- Perform routine servicing of all instruments.
- Operate in a skilled manner the following test instruments: ammeter, voltmeter, deadweight tester ,and hart communicator.
- Perform electrical wiring as required for electrical instruments.
- Capable of working from written technical instructions and directions, from manufacturer's manuals, blueprints and detailed drawings.
- Capable of repairing and adjusting instruments such as pressure, flow, temperature, combustion meters and gauges.
- Competently repair or replace worn or broken parts in instruments. Reassemble and calibrate instruments to coincide with established procedures.
- Maintain and repair process control valves.
- Maintain and repair analytical instruments such as gas chromatograph and combustion analyser.

Qualifications:

- Holder of a current Alberta Journeyman Instrument Mechanic's certificate. Several years experience in an industrial environment (petrochemical) would be an asset.
- 5-10 years Instrument Experience
- Dual-ticketed preferred; those who hold an electrical trade certificate in conjunction with the Instrumentation ticket.
