**Overview**

As we move through a period of exciting transformation and organizational change, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) has an immediate opening for an **Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Manager.**

Under the authority of the _Professional Engineers Act_, PEO licenses and governs over 91,500 licence and certificate holders and regulates the practice of professional engineering in Ontario. PEO’s mission is to regulate and advance the practice of engineering to protect the public interest. With a talented, multidisciplinary staff of over 100, PEO’s vision is to be a trusted leader in professional self-regulation.

**Position Summary**

This position will work within our Policy and Governance division and lead the successful implementation of our Anti-Racism and Equity Code. As an independent contributor, the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Manager’s main role will be to ensure PEO is an accessible, equitable and effective regulator. This role will utilize their expertise to develop a strategic action plan including defining metrics, plans to engage and inform communities which influence policies, and deliver our strategic business plan within the context of EDI. The role reports to our Director, Governance.

**Responsibilities**
- Builds and manages the strategy for the implementation of the Anti-Racism and Equity Code as it applies to PEO governance, policy and regulatory programs, including:

- Developing a framework to gather and publicly report disaggregated race-based data, other identity-based data, and EDI metrics.
- Implementing steadfast and continuous improvements that achieve equity and foster inclusivity in PEO’s regulatory processes, with priority focus on licensing, complaints, and discipline processes.
- Reforming rules, licence-holder reporting, and regulatory oversight processes and practices to reinforce the professional obligations of all licence holders to uphold human rights laws, and to encourage them to respect EDI principles.
- Continuously and appropriately engaging with engineering organizations; bridging programs; educational institutions; equity-seeking populations; industry participants; licence holders; public bodies; government representatives to explore the barriers and gaps preventing an equitable talent pipeline into the profession, and continuously taking all steps appropriate for a regulator to help to address the problem.
- Building adequate accountability measures to fortify all commitments made in the Anti-Racism and Equity Code, including periodic reassessments regarding systemic inequities, and performance appraisal measures.
- Defines and develops diversity analytics including creation of a data-driven dashboard to continually measure progress and effectively adapt to changing feedback.
- Consults and collaborates with internal and external communities, including staff and volunteers to continually drive the framework forward.
- Supports implementation of the program through the coordination and utilization of external vendors.
- Creates tools to measure success such as an equity impact assessment, to ensure PEO’s policy making meets the principles of equity and inclusion.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to Council, members, and staff on procedure, and communicate plan to ensure compliance with the Anti-Racism and Equity Code.
- Implement recommendations based on PEO's role in Truth and Reconciliation to answer the Calls to Action
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned based on PEO's strategic priorities and initiatives.

**Specialized Skills and Knowledge**

**Knowledge of**:

- Educational background in Legal, Social Sciences, Policy, or Organizational Effectiveness would be a benefit, or lived experience which demonstrates achievement of the requisite skills required.
- Experience in building and implementing EDI framework.
- Proven experience in program management
- Lived experience within historically marginalized communities would be an asset.
- Experience in campaigns or community relations would be an asset.
- Effective communication skills at all levels
- Experience in leading change management and influencing audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborative leadership skills.
- Able to create actionable plans utilizing strategies that drive cultural and behavioural change.
- Ability to navigate complex situations with tact, good judgment, and diplomacy.
- Stakeholder engagement and management skills
