Reporting to the Director, Trauma & Prehospital Programs, Critical Care, Emergency, Respiratory Services & Nurse

Led Outreach Team, the Regional Critical Care Educator (RCCE) is a registered nurse who is responsible and

accountable for their own nursing practice, and who possesses advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge and skill

in critical care nursing. Utilizing a hub and spoke model, the RCCE provides education and training to nurses and

other healthcare providers throughout northwestern (NW) Ontario.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Must provide patient care or services in a manner that is consistent with TBRHSC mission, vision, values and

reflects the philosophy of patient and family centred care.
- Must treat all information concerning patient affairs or illnesses and/or hospital business as confidential, privileged

information, which must never be discussed except in the course of duty.
- Must be accountable for ensuring the safest patient care and services and for recognizing and reporting safety

incidents or potentially unsafe conditions.
- Must abide by the Code of Conduct, work to foster an inclusive environment that honours each individual's

uniqueness, and provides a culturally safe experience through respect and compassion for all staff, professional

staff, patients, and community partners.

The RCCE will:

- Develop and deliver virtual and on‑site critical care education and associated clinical skills training to regional

hospitals and remote communities in NW Ontario.
- Partner with regional hospitals and remote communities in NW Ontario to articulate an education support plan

based on the jointly identified competencies and/or skills gap(s).
- Provide education and training in collaboration with local leaders of the regional hospitals and remote communities

in NW Ontario.
- Provide ongoing educational support and training to nurses and other healthcare providers in collaboration and

consultation with local unit leadership.
- Facilitate access to clinical resources, best practice guidelines, standards of practice, and act as a consultation

resource for organization within the NW region.
- Share didactic critical care training programs that support the Practice Standards for Critical Care Nursing in

Ontario (either in‑person or virtual programs).
- Conduct and contribute in developing specialized in‑services or education sessions based on practice updates and

identified needs within NW Ontario.
- Liaise and partner with the provincial planning lead at Critical Care Services Ontario (CCSO) to participate in a

provincial critical care educator network to help facilitate knowledge transfer and exchange related to new initiatives.
- Participate at the Local Critical Care Network (LCCN) to provide sub‑regional and regional input and advocacy to

improve critical care education.
- Facilitate mentorship/coaching opportunities for members of the interprofessional team.
- Integrate evidence‑informed practice within all components of the role.
- Determine opportunities to develop research projects that address transition and outreach challenges for critical

care patients.
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $43.546 to 51.230
