**Job Description**:
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Participates as a member of the Division’s service delivery team to carry out the goals and objectives of the Division.
- Sets goals and objectives, sets evaluation criteria, develops policies and procedures and develops and implements strategies for effective delivery of the Division’s volunteer management program and associated systems.
- Coordinates and oversees volunteer recruitment including preparation of job postings and advertisements and the collection and verification of volunteer information in relation to established requirements.
- Oversees and monitors volunteer screening, intake and placement for Division programs; ensures adequate staff and volunteer levels are maintained for volunteer functions in Division recreation and education programs.
- Coordinates and delivers volunteer orientation sessions; plans and delivers youth/new volunteer training programs for internal and external volunteers and groups; coordinates the development and provision of on-going training for staff, volunteers and associated committees as required.
- Supervises volunteers at major indoor/outdoor events for the Division.
- Participates in the evaluation and discipline process for volunteers, as required.
- Plans and delivers annual Division volunteer recognition event as well as program-specific volunteer recognition.
- Prepares and administers the annual operating budget for the Division volunteer program, including recording and payment of third-party services; achieves cost recovery goals of the program and volunteer areas through registration fees, and seeking sponsorships and donations as required.
- Develops marketing strategies to promote awareness of the value and benefits of volunteering including maintaining program websites and social media; coordinates outreach recruitment initiatives including coordinating and/or participating in job fairs and recruitment presentations.
- Coordinates and undertakes review and update of Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures including the Volunteer Code of Conduct and Volunteer Handbooks; involves Division and Corporate volunteer supervisors as required.
- Represents the Recreation & Culture Division in internal and external volunteer administrator networks.
- Researches, recommends, and implements new programs/initiatives/systems.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:
- Degree in recreation, human resources, or related human services discipline, preferably with a volunteer management certificate, with two years’ experience in volunteer management, including working with and supervising staff and volunteers and developing and supporting volunteer committees; or
- Diploma in recreation, human resources, or related human services discipline, preferably with a volunteer management certificate, with four years’ experience in volunteer management, including working with and supervising staff and volunteers and developing and supporting volunteer committees; and
- Experience in community development, recreation, and marketing is required.
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Must have excellent organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
- May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
- Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
