**Description of Responsibilities**

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for safely and efficiently preserving and enhancing the facilities and yard, by providing a wide variety of equipment and building maintenance repairs and services to maintain the facility and its assets in top physical and mechanical condition. Ensures that all equipment and supplies are in working order (welding machines, saws, mag-drills, etc.). Repairs failures of production and facilities’ equipment and ensures maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. Performs preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks for the entire plant. Troubleshoots any issues. Ensures internal work order process is utilized effectively by responding to and tracking all requests and prioritizing each work order. Executes on daily mechanical rounds ensuring all associated logs are maintained appropriately. Inspects all equipment for ware and damage. Completes all necessary paperwork that pertains to the position. Assists in training employees (when required). Ensures plant is maintained at a high standard of housekeeping. Performs other duties for the benefit of ArkTon Steel as required (saw operation, material handling, painting, mills, etc.).

Partial workload assignment to manufacturing tasks. Own tools required.

**Experience & Qualifications**

Knowledge & familiarity with structural steel manufacturing, welding machines, saws, mag-drill an asset. Mechanical; strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, and maintenance. Experience & knowledge of Hydraulics, Electrical, Pneumatics. Troubleshooting; determine causes of operating errors and making decisions about next action step. Reasoning: ability to perform basic mathematic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) without a calculator or other tool, reading schematics and diagrams. Interpret. Previous maintenance experience mechanically inclined to work on small hand tools etc. (i.e., grinders, welding machines etc.)

Read blueprints; Organized. Millwright Red Seal certification an asset. 3rd and 4th Year apprentices will be considered

**Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities**

Physically demanding; manual dexterity; hand-eye co-ordination Repetitive lifting and bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Standing for up to 8 hours, including frequent walking, climbing and use of stairs, bending and twisting at the waist and knees, squatting or kneeling and lifting arms above the head. Good hearing and vision Ability to safely maneuver hauling equipment

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
