**Summary of Duties**:
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Apparatus, this position is responsible for the scheduling of maintenance, ordering, warehousing, inventory control and distribution of parts, supplies and equipment. The duties also include identifying parts and equipment, searching for parts, shipping and receiving parts, providing customer service and advice, and maintaining records for the London Fire Department.

The London Fire Department consists of a large number of trucks maintained by mechanical staff with 310T certification and specialization in Emergency Vehicle Technician, along with a fleet of smaller vehicles maintained by mechanical staff with 310S certification. In conjunction with the fleet are numerous pieces of specialized equipment typically used by a Fire Department.

The Parts/Stores Technician works in conjunction with the mechanics and mechanical technician, to ensure timely parts ordering and delivery to ensure work on the vehicles and equipment is not delayed.

This position includes the supervision of Stores Clerk and other staff assigned to work in this section from time to time.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

Lifting, carrying, handling, parts, supplies, and equipment.

**Work Performed**:
Maintains the workorder system, scheduling, and communications for annual vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance; adapt to fleet changes, customer needs and legislative requirements.

Organize and prepare reports relating to the costing of the vehicle maintenance program for different lines of business.

Coordinate daily requests for service with the Apparatus Supervisor including prioritizing, preparing, and distributing work orders.

Working with the Apparatus Supervisor, assists in the warranty process including processing and tracking claims, inputting updates in consultation with the Accounts Payable.

Maintain records of work orders, annual inspections, preventative maintenance programs, reactive maintenance, and warranty repairs.

Business analysis, including dashboard development, to assess technical performance.

Responsible for ICO Inventory and workorder system administration including general updates, entering of repair code status or new inventory, quality control, and accuracy verification to fix anomalies.

Maintains, monitors, and controls the identification of parts and equipment, the procurement, the inventory control, along with the shipping, receiving and distribution of parts, supplies, safety equipment, vehicle equipment, etc.; optimizes inventory levels of all supplies and equipment and anticipates supply and demand challenges, coordinates annual physical inventory. Providing customer service and advice and maintains service-related records.

Ensures SDS’s are available for any products used, ordered, and/or distributed within the Fire Department.

Researches, develops, and maintains professional relationships with vendors/suppliers.

Action emergency and rush orders and follows-up on requests received as required and in compliance with procurement by-laws and applicable policies & procedures

Handles materials and coordinates and supervises shipping and receiving functions and process.

Ensures that proper records are kept for repairs of fire vehicles and equipment.

Monitors capital and operating budgets of the section, prepares budget updates, estimates, and forecasts future requirements, in consultation with the Manager of Finance and Planning.

Coordinates, follows, and provides information for updates of contracts for assigned area.

Ensures all records and files, including repair and certification of assigned apparatus and equipment, purchasing, tender, quotations, and payable files are properly maintained and updated.

Prepares reports as required, including activity reports, inventory ledgers and maintenance of equipment manuals.

Maintain Asset Registry for any assets procured or managed by the section.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Experience**:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

Red Seal - Parts Technician or Post-Secondary graduate in a related field (ie: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics).

Must also have a minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience in inventory (Stores), supply chain, and equipment management, material handling, inventory control best practices or an equivalent combination of education and experience

3-5 years’ experience in business analysis within the fleet industry or related field, preferably in a mechanic related environment.

Demonstrated ability to maintain resources in relation to a fleet operation and inventory control system, and knowledge of mechanical and fleet terminology, shop parts and service
