As part of the Therapy/Clinical team, the Behavioral Specialist provides therapeutic care to adolescents and assists in the development and implementation of care/assessment plans, risk assessments and safety plans. The successful applicant possess the knowledge and skills to observe clients and create and support appropriate interventions for increasing more pro-social behaviors.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Observe clients to aid in the creation of appropriate interventions
- Support both youth and staff in following program rules and routine
- Design and analyze behavioral interventions for clients which is trauma informed and developmentally appropriate
- Direct interaction with clients to model interventions and support staff skill building
- Discuss progress toward goals with client as documented in Care Plans
- Refer clients to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning
- Consult and oversee the quarterly CAFAS assessment and care plans of clients and support interventions or provide additional support if required
- Review and approve interventions provided on client’s ICMP
- Review and edit program Critical Incident Reports
- Provide crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team
- Provide training to program staff as appropriate under the direction of the Clinical Director
- Participate in relevant training
- Submit service activity logs, weekly and monthly schedules, time sheets and mileage to Clinical Director
- Act as a member of Reportable Events Review Committee
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Weekday after hours on-call support to programs for clinical crisis intervention

**Qualifications/Competencies**:
The individual in this role will have:

- A degree in Psychology or Human Services with a minimum of three years experience in supporting and creating behavioral interventions for children and adolescents
- Experience and skill in identifying triggers and changes in client’s behaviors
- Excellent time management and prioritizing skills
- Excellent communication skills when interacting with professionals or clients
- Ability to analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations
- Ability to adapt to a variety of computer programs and assessment protocol
- Writing skills for reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals required
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, clients and the general public
- Ability to define problems, gather data, organize facts, and make valid conclusions
- High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion
