GFL Environmental is looking for a Transfer Station Operator to join our growing team out of our Red Deer operations.

This is a Part-time/Permanent position based at the Yankee Flats Waste Transfer Facility. The shifts will be Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:00am - 5:30pm, and 1 day/week for 3 hours (loading).

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Under general supervision, operate the waste disposal site under GFL guidelines as well as following all Workplace Safety and Health and Environmental rules
- Greet all customers when they come onto site
- Direct all users to proper dumping areas for all waste being disposed
- Keep all areas of the transfer station site clean and well maintained
- Pick up litter as required and clean up waste that falls outside of bins
- Ensure all material placed in the incorrect location, is relocated to the correct spot
- Ability to work on a standing position for long periods of time
- Other duties that may arise as assigned by supervisor or members of the Management Team (i.e. paperwork).

**Knowledge, Skills & Competencies**:

- Experience in Bobcat operation a must
- Good working knowledge of the various categories of valuable scrap materials collected from the waste stream or the ability to quickly acquire that knowledge
- Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements
- Transfer station experience is an asset
- Class 5 Drivers license
- Experience in operation of waste management facilities
- Experience with or knowledge of the handling, storage and disposal of Hazardous Substance and Dangerous Goods
