**About Our Opportunity**:
One of the primary responsibilities of this position will be to coordinate stakeholder engagement and oversee management framework implementation on forest pest programs such as the spruce budworm.

You will also support the fleet management program with science, technology and business planning initiatives for improved efficiencies, service delivery, and staff and public safety. This position is accountable for the delivery of Department programs through the effective and efficient use of Risk Services staff and financial resources.

As the Manager, Forest Protection Risk Services, you will report to the Director of Fleet and Forest Protection.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
The Fleet and Forest Protection Division is responsible for:

- The health of Nova Scotia's Woodlands by protecting them from forest pests and wildfires,
- Providing centralized aviation services to government departments and agencies for wildfire detection and suppression, provincial emergency situations, ground search and rescue, medical evacuations, and resource development and management,
- Procuring and maintaining a high quality, safe and reliable motorized fleet of vehicles for the department.
- The science, technology, and business planning components of the provincial forest protection program

**About You**:
This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a university degree from a recognized school with management experience and leadership in the field of natural resources, or a related disciple. Experience with forest protection programs will be considered an asset. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

You possess exceptional communication (written and verbal), time management and organizational skills with attention to detail. You have strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability in dealing with controversial issues. You are results oriented with a high level of initiative and motivation.

**Working Conditions**:

- Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
