Product Safety Trainer

**Position Summary**:
Responsible for delivery of training materials on company products to employees and external clients. Responsible for training and evaluation of Linamar employees on the use of equipment such as MEWPs, lift trucks, cranes, etc. Ensure that team members have the knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely while operating equipment as assigned. Perform work tasks and meet departmental objectives under mínimal supervision. Regular local travel by personal vehicle is required and must be willing to travel internationally if needed.

**Performance Expectations**:

- Have knowledge of all legislative requirements and ensure compliance at facilities
- Know and understand relevant industry standards
- Train operators in safe use of MEWP, telehandler, lift truck, crane, and other programs as assigned
- Train customers on the proper use of Skyjack Trainer Kits for MEWP and telehandler
- Participate in development and maintenance of training materials
- Assist in the marketing of Skyjack training programs
- Complete related paperwork correctly and in a timely manner
- Be available to travel periodically for training, meetings or conferences
- Ability to work all 3 shifts and flexible schedules that may include Saturdays and Sundays
- Assist customers with safe use of MEWPs, telehandlers and general product safety
- Be a first point of contact within Skyjack for incident reporting and support Skyjack and Linamar teams in risk assessment and hazard control activities
- Good experience with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
- Actively work towards departmental general objectives (DGOs)
- Maintain continuing professional development
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Minimum completion of secondary school level education or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of equipment operation experience
- Minimum 5 years of industry-related experience
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Valid Canadian passport
- Must be comfortable in front of an audience, be able to present information clearly and answer any questions related to the content

**Desired Characteristics**:

- Valid training as a MEWP, telehandler, lift truck and crane operator
- Former training experience with equipment operation
- Education or training in adult learning principles
- Good communication and presentation skills with groups and individuals
- Technical writing skills for content development and other writing/editing assignments
- Working knowledge of MOL regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Working knowledge of relevant CSA and ANSI equipment standards
- Working knowledge of manufacturer’s guidelines for proper use of equipment
- Ability to detect hazards and a define control methods
- Understand and articulate the consequences of improper use of equipment
- Ability to deliver training in a manner appropriate to ensure understanding
- Ability to read and retain technical information with attention to detail
- Strong reading and writing skills with ability to work with translators and sign language interpreters when delivering training
- Eagerness to work with cross-functional teams to resolve safety issues
- Have a good safety record that is based on consistent implementation of rules
- Be an advocate for health and safety in all daily duties
