**Role Description**
We are seeking a **Fireproofing Operations Manager / Site Inspector** for a full-time, on-site position in Mississauga, ON. This role is pivotal in overseeing fireproofing operations, ensuring compliance with ULC designs, and managing quality control and safety on-site. You will work closely with the construction team, conduct thorough site inspections, and maintain the highest fire safety standards.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Fireproofing Inspection and Quality Control**:
- Measure coating thickness, coverage, and consistency using specialized tools (e.g., wet film and dry film thickness gauges).
- **Code and Standards Compliance**:
- Ensure all fireproofing work complies with applicable standards (e.g., ASTM E119, UL 263) and local building codes.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors and regulatory agencies for audits and compliance verification.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:
- Maintain detailed records of inspection findings, noting defects or areas requiring corrective action.
- Submit daily and weekly reports to the Quality Control Manager or Project Manager, outlining compliance status, findings, and actions taken.
- **Deficiency Management and Corrective Actions**:
- Monitor corrective actions and re-inspect to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- **Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance**:
- Enforce safety standards specific to fireproofing inspections, ensuring adherence to safe practices and proper PPE usage.
- Ensure hazardous materials are handled in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in safety meetings and report incidents or safety concerns.
- **Client and Stakeholder Communication**:
- Collaborate with project engineers, contractors, and clients to address quality concerns.
- Provide updates on inspection findings and advise on corrective actions during project meetings.
**Qualifications**
- Knowledge of Cementitious (SFRM) and Intumescent (IFRM) fireproofing solutions.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes related to fire protection.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct site inspections and manage projects effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Certification in fire protection or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience in construction is highly valued.
