**Lead Carpenter & Workman job description**

MJN PROPERTIES LIMITED is a fast growing company committed to rental unit conversions and tenant turnovers. Our goal is to provide great residential construction projects on time to our clients. We’re seeking a Lead Carpenter & Workman who is reliable, can do carpentry but not limited to all parts of construction project. Must strive for excellence and have a time focused approach. This person will be responsible for overseeing day to day operations on the site they are asigned, ensuring compliance with all building codes and bylaw standards, regulations, and codes. We’re searching for someone who has experience leading a team and can understand blueprints.

**Objectives of this role & Responsibilities**
- Participate in all aspects of construction projects, from foundation to finish work
- Have over 3-5 years’ experience in carpentry and have general knowledge or aptitude to learn framing, flooring, tiling, basic plumbing, drywall install, taping and painting, trim work, etc.
- Utilize and read blueprints to work through construction projects
- Perform work safely by following all standards for performance
- Function as part of a collaborative effort, and work closely with other team members and construction industry professionals
- Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
- Ensure a clean and prepared construction site to eliminate potential hazards and ensure day-to-day safety, and keep tools and equipment in good working condition
- Load and unload materials, and identify and distribute them to appropriate locations
- Operate tools and machinery according to project plans and specifications
- Provide assistance to contractors (ex: workers, electricians, plumbers) as needed

**Required skills and qualifications**
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Good interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience as a general laborer in the construction industry

**Preferred skills and qualifications**
- 3-5 years minimum in general construction with preference to carpentry
- Experience in framing and carpentry
- Experience with some flooring, painting, drywall and other skills
- Familiarity with how to read blueprints

Part-time hours: 30-40 per week

**Salary**: $27.00-$32.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift

- Quinte West, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- carpentry: 5 years (preferred)
