**Collaborative Pianist**

The Grimsby Celebration Choir is seeking a highly skilled and dependable collaborative pianist to join our team for the 2023-24 season. Collaborative pianists accompany and support the ensemble choir during rehearsals and performances. They provide piano accompaniment, assist with sight-singing, collaborating one on one with various soloists/small groups and help with sectional rehearsals. Proficient sight-reading skills and the ability to quickly learn new scores are essential.

**Pianist Responsibilities**:

- Understanding project requirements and showing up on time for scheduled rehearsals, recitals, concerts and one on one rehearsal sessions with a soloist or small group.
- May require you to rehearse and play in collaboration with other musicians ie. percussionist, flautist etc
- Collaborating with artists, songwriters, musicians, actors, and other professionals.
- Ensuring the piano is in playable working order each week and make sure to notify the Board if there are any issues.
- Notifying the appropriate contact in a timely manner if you are ill, running late, or unable to perform
- Organizing a suitable substitute under the guidance of the music director.
- Reading, writing, and making the necessary edits to musical notation when required.

**Pianist Requirements**:

- Degree in music, musical theory, composition or similar an asset.
- At least 2 years experience of accompanying a choral group
- Outstanding artistry, musicianship and musicality
- Ability to play piano at a high level.
- Ability to sight-read, play from memory, and improvise.
- Ability to play other instruments is advantageous.
- Resilience and excellent endurance.
- Great time management and self discipline.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team

**Contract**:
$45-$55 per hour, depending on experience.
