Along with overseeing, and at busy times assisting with, accurate order pulling, tagging, labeling, quality control, inventory transfers and packing of plants, the JRT Nurseries Nursery Manager works directly with the General Manager and has frequent communication with all departments. As the Nursery Manager takes great pride in their work to ensure top quality product leaves JRT Nurseries and all daily tasks are completed in a safe and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities / scope
- Oversee general operations of the nursery and ensure productivity, shipping and inventory are run in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor assigned tasks to ensure the labour force is completing tasks efficiently and to expected standards.
- Implement production plans and maintenance schedules as provided by the General Manager
- Delegate work orders:

- Crop maintenance as advised by the Inventory Monitor. This includes irrigation, fertilizing, pruning, and pest management, as well as other Nursery related tasks.
- Crop moves and crop dumps
- Communicate with the IPM person for all Pest Management requirements
- Monitor the infrastructures of the nursery and report any required repairs to the maintenance department. At times, train and assist the maintenance department with repairs.
- Irrigation, greenhouse structures, road repairs, etc.
- Provide weekly crop reports to the sales team. Reporting on exceptional crops, crop delays and or crop failures, as well as crop maintenance; as advised by the Inventory Monitor. This includes:

- Dump reports
- Move reports; crop consolidation
- Maintenance reports; pest control, pruning, fertilizing etc.
- Work with the Production Department, Inventory Personnel and Sales Team to ensure crops are ready when required.
- Coordinate labour schedules for required tasks
- Shipping labour; order pulling, cleaning, racking and loading of orders
- Crop maintenance labour
- Infrastructure maintenance
- Review sales reports and sales orders from the nursery inventory software to stay current with the activities at JRT & MYP during all seasons.
- Coordinate and assist with crop locations for new production and crop moves with the Lead Grower and Production Supervisor
- Identifying and clearly marking presold crops and crops that need to Transfer between JRT & MYP.
- Oversee the timely delivery of Transfers between MYP & JRT for Production material and sold product with the Production Supervisor, Propagation Monitor, Logistics and the Shipping Supervisor
- Reporting relationships
- Report to, and take direction from the General Manager
- Communication with all departments is paramount
- Communicate with the production manager about current and future crops that are for sale or nursery stock.

- At times the Nursery Manager may be required to Operate farm machinery (tractors, forklifts, and other equipment)
